ACHIEVEMENTS

2018 Achievements :

  • Commenced planning for SuperExpo 2019, to be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from 12 – 14 June 2019;
  • Developed a five-year training plan and the commencement of quality training in Victoria, with other States to follow later in the 2018/2019 year;
  • Continued with the work of the Energy Rating Committee (WincovER) to have window furnishings included in energy rating software and systems to improve energy efficiency in building design;
  • Produced an Industry Guideline for Plantation Shutters;
  • Lodged a submission with the Australian Building Codes Board to address fire safety issues which had removed an exemption for awnings and blinds from the more stringent requirements that apply to other attachments to building facades;
  • Provided members with free access to advice and answers on the requirements/obligations under all areas of the Competition and Consumer Act and Australian Consumer Law;
  • Commenced work on a new look website;
  • Introduced a Recognition Program to acknowledge members once they attain a membership milestone anniversary;
  • Organised guest speakers for our General Meetings on Australian Consumer Law and the housing market’s economic forecasts and trends;
  • Held interstate meetings to allow members from around Australia to participate and network.
