ACHIEVEMENTS

2020 Achievements :

  • Commenced planning for the next SuperExpo to be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre;
  • Promoted industry training through our training partners The Frontline Group;
  • Continued with the work of the Energy Rating Committee (WincovER) to have window furnishings included in energy rating software and systems to improve energy efficiency in building design;
  • Engaged a fire engineer consultant to undertake full scale fire tests to AS 5113 on externally mounted awnings, blinds and shutters to assess their flammability under the National Construction Code;
  • Conducted a strategic review of the association and developed a strategic plan for the future;
  • Provided members with free access to advice and answers on the requirements/obligations under all areas of the Competition and Consumer Act and Australian Consumer Law;
  • Set up a new Facebook forum for members to seek advice, share marketing tips and source information;
  • Responded to the ACCC’s review of the Safety Standard for Corded Internal Window Coverings;
  • Met with representatives from ES-SO, the umbrella body of the international solar shading trade associations in Europe, as well as from the Attachments Energy Rating Council in the USA;
  • Held interstate meetings to allow members from around Australia to participate and network.
